STRATEGIC MASTER PLAN
for
FY02 and BEYOND

AIR FORCE SPACE COMMAND

9 February 2000

FOREWORD

It’s my pleasure to present Air Force Space Command’s Strategic Master Plan for FY02 and Beyond.  This plan culminates two years of study and analysis by the Command’s best and brightest thinkers.  Since our last publication, combat operations in the Balkans revalidated and strengthened our belief that space forces are crucial to success on the modern battlefield.  As the US Air Force continues the transition from a Cold War garrison force to an Expeditionary Aerospace Force, we must modernize.  The Strategic Master Plan is key to this effort.  It formulates a fiscally and technologically feasible investment strategy to maintain space superiority, defend US interests, and fully integrate aerospace capabilities.  As we stand at the threshold and bid farewell to the century of airpower, we welcome the century of aerospace power.  I’m excited about the possibilities.
