(U) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Satellite Systems

(U) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) satellite communications systems provide global unprotected tactical communications for aircraft, surface ships, subs, ground forces, and shore stations. The UHF frequency provides wide area coverage and greater channel capacity which permitts the use of small, economical, highly mobile terminals. The UHF Follow-On (UFO) satellites are being launched to replace the FLTSATCOM satellites to provide UHF communications into the 21st century.
