Overview (U):

(U) The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) is funding a National Missile Defense (NMD) Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) prototype demonstrator that would provide a partial solution to the BM/C2 definicienies by providing a BM/C2 capability for the NMD mission that could evolve to a deployable system and improve situational awareness and interoperability.

Description (U):

(U) The BM/C3 prototype is being developed in incremental phases with more and more capability in each phase. Release testing of Capability Increment was completed in Sept 1996. CI-4 will be available in 1999 to support the BMDO demonstration of NMD capability. The BM/C3 will accept data from sensors, display NMD relevant information, accept user inputs, and output command and control information to elements of NMD. The NMD BM/C3 program will provide the capability for the designated operational commander to plan, coordinate, direct, and control NMD weapons and sensors.
